Chocolate Play Dough

Chocolate Play Dough Recipe

Trick or Treat, something SWEET! Chocolate play dough is edible, smells amazing and has a great consistency. The dark rich color makes it great for Halloween! Spiders, black cats, bats and MONSTERS!

Great to use with googly eyes, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, muffin wrappers (baking cups), straws, toothpicks and festive cookie cutters (see the list of all our craft essentials!).

We found this amazing recipe from The Imagination Tree and it worked so well! They used an old chocolate box and duplicated the sizes and shapes of the chocolates in the box. Looks like fun, plus it’s a great excuse to finish that old box of chocolates ;)

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 cup salt

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil

  • 2 tbsps cream of tartar

  • 2 cups of boiling water

  • 4 drops of glycerine

  • Combine all of the dry ingredients in a bowl

  • Stir in the vegetable oil

  • Mix together

  • Stir in the boiling water (adult only) and mix until combined

  • When it has cooled a little, knead it on a clean surface until it loses all stickiness and becomes smooth and stretchy. No residue should come off on your fingers. If it is still sticky add a little more flour, if too dry and crumbly add more water, a tablespoon at a time.
