Parenting Manifesto

My Personal Parenting Manifesto

I believe…

Parenting is a labor of love. It’s a hard job and the pay is lousy (in the monetary sense).

I believe…

No one is perfect. Hence, no one is a perfect parent OR a perfect child. I will just be real. A realistic measure of success will come from my heart.

I believe…

I will not get caught up in what other people think about my parenting style. Small glances of public moments are not windows into their daily exchanged between parents and children, spoken and unspoken. I will not compare myself to other mothers – good, bad and otherwise. I will be less quick to judge other women – and their children.

I believe…

In balance. I’m allowed to do things that make me happy and feel complete. I can take better care of everyone else if I take the time to take care of myself first. Likewise, there will be times I put my own agenda aside to do what is right for my child. Both are good – both are needed.

I believe…

In today. Years stream by at warp speed. I will do my best to never miss the opportunity to steal a goodnight kiss, whisper encouraging words and tell my child I love him.
