Apple Swan: [FUN] Health for Kids

Apple Swan: [FUN] Health for Kids

My son thought I was an swan-apple-carving rock star! It’s super easy, takes less than 5 minutes and put a HUGE smile on his face (mine, too).

Apple Swan: step 1

Step 1 : Choose an apple of your taste, size and color.

Apple Swan: step 2

Step 2 : Start by slicing 1 side of the apple. This will give the bird its base.

Apple Swan: step 3

Step 3 : Be sure to save BOTH pieces.

Apple Swan: step 4

Step 4 : On the larger piece, find the center. Cut slightly off center, stopping about 1/2” from the bottom going down at a 90 degree angle.

Apple Swan: step 5Step 5: Take the piece and cut 1/8” from the side at a 90 degree angle until you’re about 1/8” from the bottom.

Apple Swan: step 6

Step 6 : Repeat 2-3 times. [Do the same things to the other side]

Apple Swan: step 7

Step 7 : Now for the head!  Find the extra apple slice and cut ½ “ slice out of the middle.

Apple Swan: step 8Step 8 : Carve out a swan shaped head with the paring knife.

Apple Swan: step 9Step 9 : Use the tip of your paring knife to cut a hole for the head.

Apple Swan: step 10Step 10 : Insert your swan neck into the hole on the body… and  viola!

Apple Swan: step 11Step 11 : Still not classy enough? Try adding some caramel sauce ;)

Step 12 : enjoy!!!
